I started working with Mack to prepare for the 2019 Paris Marathon. My goal was to finish the Paris Marathon both comfortably and prevent any injuries along the way
At first, I was concerned that the strength training would make it harder for me to run because I would be sore or my legs would be too tired afterward. However, because you were an experienced runner, you selected exercises that actually stabilized and improved my running. After a few sessions, I felt more secure and stronger, especially during my long runs. I actually noticed I could do a pretty decent sprint at the end of my runs to push my pace.
I was able to recover from the Paris Marathon. in record time and hardly felt sore after the race, AND I was able to set another marathon PR less than 3 months later! That’s a testament to the strength I had built up before the race.
The first time I ran a marathon in 2018 I had a foot injury that caused me to stop training which stopped me from training for a while. In 2019, I was able to bang out three marathon injury-free that’s a direct result of the training with Mack.
My confidence as a runner has improved because I am confident the strength training would prevent injury that could occur from the long runs and constantly hitting the pavement.
I just want to thank Mack personally for being there for me this past year and seeing me through all of the goals we have set. I am so very grateful for Mack taking a balanced approach with my training. Mack nailed it with the selection of exercises and figured out how to push me beyond my limits safely. I now plan to have strength training as a core part of my training as a runner!!
